In recent years, the emphasis on sustainable and environmentally friendly modes of transportation has increased significantly. This trend has now spread to the municipal police forces in Poprad and Michalovce, two Slovak cities that are leaders in the introduction of electric motorcycles.

Statement by the Chief of the Poprad City Police, Marián Gardoš:

"These are not only economical and ecological means of transport, but nowadays larger cities, such as Poprad, are plagued by traffic jams and in many cases this is the means of transport with which we can quickly get to places where it is needed. The motorbikes will be deployed throughout the city. They can travel 100 kilometers on a single charge and their speed is up to 90 kilometers per hour,"

Statement by the spokesperson for the city of Poprad, Jarmila Hlaváčová:

"Their operating costs are significantly lower than those of a regular gasoline-powered motorcycle, and they are also significantly more profitable in terms of investment and operation, and last but not least, of course, they are more environmentally friendly," explained Hlaváčová.

In addition to their environmental benefits, electric motorbikes have proven to be more practical and efficient than conventional motorbikes or petrol-powered cars. The mobility of motorbikes allows police officers to quickly navigate city traffic and arrive at their destination on time. They are also significantly cheaper to operate than conventional vehicles, with lower maintenance and fuel costs.

City police save time and effort with electric motorbikes

The transition to electric motorbikes has also been embraced by Michalovce, a city in eastern Slovakia. When the city police in Michalovce ride their electric motorbikes through the square, locals often stop and take photos. The electric motorbikes have quickly become a symbol of Michalovce’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

According to Chief Dušan Šanta, electric motorbikes have been a game changer for the Michalovce city police. They allow officers to move quickly and efficiently throughout the city, replacing some errands that would previously have required walking. The motorbikes are also incredibly easy to charge - officers simply plug them into a 220-volt outlet at the city police station overnight.
